Anybody and Everybody

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Romans 10:1-4

In Romans chapter 10, the Apostle Paul explains the inclusive nature of the gospel—its availability to anyone and everyone that calls on the name of the Lord. The gospel was available to everyone who responded to God in faith, with all being saved regardless of their ethnicity. This gospel is for the Jew and the Gentile alike.

Paul was confident in the sovereignty of God and at the same time troubled by those in his own community who did not recognize Jesus as the Messiah. So, Paul asks God to intervene in their lives so they might be saved. If you are like me, you have people in your own life that you hope will one day know Christ. We wonder if there is anything we can do to change their hearts. Maybe the most impactful thing we can do is simply to pray, asking for God’s intervention.

For Reflection
Has God placed someone on your heart who doesn’t know Christ?

Prayer
Lord, our heart’s desire is that those that we love would know you. So, we ask for your divine intervention. We pray that you would speak to them and draw them to yourself. We pray that they would hear your voice and respond to your grace. Amen.
